Purchasing has now gained a seat on Boards of Directors. Beyond the objectives to reduce costs, Purchasing Directors must also participate in a company's international development, contribute to reducing “time to market” and to encourage innovation.

Moreover, the competence needed to manage Purchasing has rapidly evolved, leading to an increasingly large gap between an organization's needs and the existing resources.

This proprietary study was carried out with a representative sample of Purchasing Directors who accepted to respond to this question and shed new light on this key function.
